Why and how to distinguish string light wires?
- Gauge wire is the diameter of copper, the smaller the gauge wire, the greater the diameter in inches.
- Only 18 gauge wire or above are ETL certified for permanent outdoor string lights, 20 gauge wire or below are only suitable for 90 days seasonal use.
- To distinguish a wire, not only consider its thickness, but more importantly, its model. Because some sellers just increase the thickness of the outer rubber to make the wire look thicker, in fact the copper wire inside is still a thinner diameter.
